Anyone who's been paying attention to the news knows that things are heating up over in Santa Monica, CA. Any Hunters in the area should be on high alert and try to congregate if you can. There's safety in numbers. Anyone who's not in the area should probably avoid it, because there's more safety in not jumping into a warzone. It looks like a storm is coming. Here's what we know so far:
- A known supernatural hot spot, the Golden Temple in Chinatown, was the site of an explosion. We have no reason to suspect this was a mundane act.
- A number of tracked vamps have vanished seemingly overnight, and vampire activity in the area is at an all time high. A few firefights in the streets have been linked to the vamps.
- Gang activity is on the rise, and we know that several members of L.A.'s major gangs have links to the supernatural.
- A group of armed supernaturals swarmed a Smart Industries high society function with a high human death toll.
- New Hunters are being Imbued in the area, which only seems to happen where something's going down.

I can tell you one thing about the supernaturals that hit Smart's gala: some of 'em were werewolves with Yakuza ties! Still not sure how I got outta there alive!

Did you see anything they might have been after? Any information about it might help us pinpoint what's going on here, and what the wolves are up to. I agree, though. You're lucky to be alive. Those are nasty beasts one on one, but taking on a whole pack is suicide. |

I wasn't at the gala personally, and I'm not sure what those werewolves were doing there. But I'll say that it isn't terribly surprising that Smart Industries is suffering. Evidently there is a big name demon pulling on the strings of the company. Belial, specifically.
I'm vaguely familiar with popular cult practices involving demons (though I wouldn't know how much of it is legitimate. I have never actually tested any of it). However, dealing with well-known demons is an entirely different beast. Their name obviously does not hold the same power as it would with a lesser demon.
I don't suppose anyone knows of how to deal with one of these?

I'll tell you what we know so far, but it ain't much. There seem to be a few major players in this, but right now the city's like a rotten onion. Peel back the skin and you're going to find layer after rancid layer before you get to its center. I can tell you without a scrap of doubt that we haven't identified every dog in this fight yet. Here are the ones we know about:
Vampires:
Oh hell yes the city has vampires. They're swarming up in here like it's a year round spring break with half-priced blood martinis all around. We've gone toe to toe with a few of them and been around long enough to notice that the vamps aren't too worried about us. They've got their claws in this city, but this war has them slipping. So far we've been able to identify three vampire 'factions', and while we haven't seen open war between them we've got reason to believe they aren't supporting each other. The factions are:
The Cammies - Your average, run-of-the-mill hunt from the shadows vampire from the look of it. Other vamps call them Cammies.
The Free People - No real name for this one. Apparently if you don't run with the Cammies, you're part of some independent group that, weirdly enough, seems to cluster together anyway. Can't make heads or tails of it.
The Chinese - Apparently racism knows no species. I don't know if the Chinese vamps weren't allowed in the secret leech club or if they stay apart by their own choice, but whatever the case the Asian vamps seem to keep to their own.
Werewolves:
Eyewitnesses from the fiasco at the Smart gala have confirmed that werewolves are taking a big step out of the shadows, and it's likely that this war has something to do with it. The timing is just too perfect for it to be any different. Unfortunately we just don't have a lot of info on the wolves right now. Up until the gala event, local hunters say the wolves kept mostly to Griffith Park and the spaces outside the city. Everything we know says it's weird to see them operating in the urban sprawl like this, but they're doing it anyway. So far we haven't identified any wolf factions, but it could be too soon to tell.

The Never-Risen-One spins in the abyss of anguish again and again and again and again. Be not afraid mon ami, the tongues of the liars spill falsehood and treachery to make you afraid, but in the light of the angels you are untouchable. |

You may want to double-check with your angel, then. I didn't learn this information from the demon itself. Though it is possible that it is some sort of a half-truth that I was told, I do not believe it would be an outright lie. It definitely must be a demon, though. It was literally trying to make a deal for a soul... |

Those are nasty beasts one on one, but taking on a whole pack is suicide. Yeah, I was doin' a favor for Tony Stark, pullin' door security at his gala. When a group of Japanese businessmen tried to get in uninvited, I got in their way. One of 'em, their leader I think, morphed into a werewolf and it was on! But while we tangled, the rest of the pack got past me. I was a little too focused on stayin' alive at that point to be able to do much about them. Not sure why he didn't kill me- I mean, I put up a helluva fight, but he sure as hell could've taken my head off just about any time. Instead, he finally managed to lock onto me, carried me up to the roof, and dropped me there. I managed to get back down by jumpin' to a window-washin' scaffold, but by the time I got back to the gala, well, there wasn't much left. Lots of blood, dead bodies, and guns from the Japanese guys and the other company's security people. Oh, and a German vampire who called himself Grunfield Bach standin' in the middle of the carnage. Tried to get answers outta him, but me and my glock against him and the rest of the living security, all pointin' their guns at me- I didn't have a choice but to back down and let the bastard go. Still haven't been able to got any information from Stark about what went down and why. You know anything about this Bach vamp? |

The name doesn't ring a bell but I can ask around. I'd advise anyone else with information to do the same. |
